As a firefighter, I've dedicated my career to protecting others. But one of the greatest risks I recognized wasn't necessarily on the fireground. It was what happened after the call was over.
Our turnout gear is exposed to carcinogens, PFAS, and other harmful substances that can remain on our equipment long after an emergency. Like many firefighters, I routinely transported my gear in my personal vehicle. As a husband and father, I couldn't ignore the potential risks this created for my family.
I knew there had to be a better way.
My journey began by purchasing and evaluating every type of turnout gear bag I could find. I wanted to understand what was available and whether any of these products actually addressed the risks associated with transporting and storing our protective equipment.
What I discovered was a significant gap in firefighter safety. Traditional gear bags were designed primarily for convenience and transportation, with little consideration for containing hazardous contaminants or limiting secondary exposure.
That's when I decided to create something different.
My vision was to develop an innovative containment system combining rugged durability, airtight and watertight construction, and advanced filtration technology to help reduce the spread of harmful contaminants into our vehicles, stations, and homes.
That vision became HazGuard Gear.
What began as a personal mission to protect my own family has grown into a commitment to improving firefighter safety and helping protect the families of those who serve.
Because the dangers of our profession shouldn't follow us home, and protecting those who serve shouldn't end when the emergency is over.

The creation of HazGuard Gear began with a simple but powerful purpose: to better protect firefighters and the families waiting for them at home.
As a firefighter and a father, I've seen firsthand the risks that come with this profession. The growing concerns surrounding toxic contaminants, including PFAS, made me realize that protecting firefighters shouldn't end when the emergency is over. The potential for bringing harmful contaminants home to our loved ones was something I couldn't ignore.
What started as an idea quickly became a family mission.
My family has been at the heart of HazGuard Gear from the very beginning. Their encouragement, perspective, and unwavering support pushed me to challenge conventional thinking and develop something that could make a meaningful difference in the fire service.
Together, we focused on creating more than just another gear bag. We wanted to develop an innovative containment solution designed to help reduce the spread of harmful contaminants, protect the people who serve, and minimize potential exposure to the families they return home to.
